Shark Island is located in the middle of the Sydney harbour channel near the Harbour heads. Like the other large Sydney Harbour islands, Shark Island is part of the Sydney Harbour national park system and is used as a public recreation reserve. In the past, Shark Island was used as an animal quarantine centre and later as a naval storage depot.
These days, the island is a popular family picnic and functions location. It offers fabulous views of the harbour, and surrounding shoreline and can cater for up to 500 people at a time. Shark Island is designed to provide excellent amenities for the public. The island can also be booked for private functions through the National Park Service. If you’d like to visit Shark Island, Majestic Water Taxis can provide any water transport you need. Whether it’s for your family, your friends, or your guest, we’ll take you there.
